About Me
Hi! My name is Josh Heimendinger. I started doing improv in 2014 and I’ve spent nearly every waking minute since then thinking about, teaching, performing, coaching, or directing improv. I’ve trained at Spectacles Improv Engine, UCB, iO West, Camp Improv Utopia, and more. I’ve performed at improv festivals throughout California and Utah and am a founding member of long form team Pictures of Spaghetti, which formed in 2015 and still performs monthly at the Improv Collective in Orange County. I like Oxford commas and can kind of play guitar.
I used to teach improv out of my garage, which was full of energy, chaos, excitement, and exploration. Now I teach it out in the real world, and try to bring that same level of energy and passion to my classes.
The name Genuine Improv came about because I focus on teaching improv that feels real, honest, and well-acted. It just also happens to be funny as hell. If you’re excited to learn improv, I can’t wait to teach you everything I know.
